In-Line Blood Gas and Chemistry Monitor

The VIA is an in-line blood gas monitor that gently withdraws a blood sample from an existing umbilical arterial line or a peripheral arterial line in a similar fashion that a caregiver would manually but better.
Not only is it a closed system, which is what is being emphasized in NICUs across the country to reduce nosocomial infections, but it returns all of the blood back to the patient after the analyzation is complete at a flow rate much slower than humans would normally (45 seconds to reinfuse 1cc). It samples and provides results every 11 minutes if necessary, visually displays them on the monitor, and prints a hard copy for the patient record.

Parameters measured are pH, pCO2, pO2, K+, Na+, Hct, Hgb, BE, HCO3-, TCO2, and oxygen saturation.  All of this capability is obtained without a capital investment.  We provide the monitor and the only items to purchase are the disposables.
